Langley Gold Rush Wheelchair Basketball's pilot program concluded last Thursday, June 2nd. Attendance for the program at Alex Hope Elementary in Walnut Grove was strong and players from the area are eager to have the program stay here in Langley. Players ranged in age from 10 years old to adult. A good time was had by all with the veteran players doing an excellent job of encouraging the newcomers.

For the final night, there was extended game time, some tasty snacks and some great prizes. Trevor Hawley was singled out to receive the much sought-after hard-shell World Wheelchair Rugby Championship backpack. Jack Kosterman said of Trevor when presenting the prize, "...because he has always been there. He came to all of our program nights, he came with us the first time we played, he travelled to the other programs with us in Chilliwack, Surrey and New West and he went to nearly every event right from the beginning for more than two years."

Langley Gold Rush Wheelchair Basketball would like to thank Carrie Linegar, Makiko Harada, Alex Hope Elementary School, and BC Wheelchair Basketball for equipment, prizes and support. "It was an incredibly positive experience," said Coach Nathan Bragg, "I enjoyed watching everyone improve while having fun".
