Congratulations to Canada's Wheelchair Basketball Teams on Qualifying for Rio at the Toronto 2015 Parapan Am Games
BC Wheelchair Basketball Society congratulates both the men's and the women's national teams for qualifying for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games based on their successful performance at the Toronto 2015 Parapan Am Games. Three BC athletes -- Deion Green, Bo Hedges and Janet McLachlan -- competed.
"The Toronto 2015 Parapan Am Games exposed millions of Canadians to wheelchair basketball and the Paralympic movement," said BCWBS Executive Director Sian Blyth. "We are so proud of Deoin, Bo and Janet's accomplishments, and we look forward to building on the legacy of Toronto 2015 and welcoming the next generation of Paralympians."
Though both the men's and women's teams lost to the USA in the finals, both had stellar performances and were undefeated leading into the gold medal game. West Vancouver's Janet McLachlan was Team Canada's high scorer, netting 27 points, including three three-pointers, in the gold medal match.
