Register Now For BC Wheelchair Basketball Referee Clinic
If you're interested in learning about refereeing wheelchair basketball, or if you're a student looking for volunteer hours, come out to the BC Wheelchair Basketball Referee Clinic. The clinic is open to anyone over 16 who is interested in becoming a referee. Experience playing basketball and/or refereeing basketball is an asset, but is not required.
The clinic will take place:
When: Monday, Sept 9th, 5:30 - 7:30 pm
Where: Port Moody Recreation Complex
Cost: Free!
After completing the clinic, referees will be able to practice their skills at the Port Moody Wheelchair Basketball Program (Mondays Sept. 16 - Oct. 28 from 6 to 7:30 pm). Students and individuals with no refereeing experience will be given 1.5 volunteer hours per night and provided with a volunteer certificate letter at the end of the program. Individuals with basketball refereeing experience will be provided with gas money of $10 per night.
Wheelchair basketball referees who choose to continue enjoy many opportunities including:
- Refereeing at BCWBS tournaments and leagues as a paid referees if your performance is approved by the BCWBS Head Referee.
- Traveling across the national and even abroad if you get certified and gain experience!
- Being part of a welcoming sport community.
