Clarification for BC-CWBL Division 2 Players
BCWBS would like to go over some procedures re: Division 2 tournaments as there were some confusions this past weekend. This is just for us to be on the same page and hope this helps us to play our games and run tournaments more smoothly.
We ask not only the team reps but also all the players in the league to be familiar with these procedures.
<Forfeit>
A team shall lose the game by forfeit if 15 min after the scheduled starting time, the team is not present or is unable to field five players within the 17-point limit rule ready to play. (as per IWBF rules)
A team must report this to the head official of the game as well as the game director (usually wearing a black “Game Director” T-shirt) who reports to Carrie or Makiko prior to the game time.
*Please do not begin a game without clarifying this with a head official and a game director of the game that records a forfeit on the score book. (This is not something that can be discussed and determined only between team reps.)
*If your team notices that your opponent is playing a player(s) who is not on their official roster before or during the game, please talk to the table officials that will consult with the head official as well as the game director. If a violation is confirmed, the head official claims its team’s forfeit and records it on the scorebook but the game will continue.
*If your team notices that your opponent is playing over-points during the game, please talk to the table officials immediately and they will check the points on the floor with the head official. If a violation is confirmed, a technical foul will be called on the bench. Claiming the over-points after the end of the game will not affect the result of the game unless the team in question were not able to field five players within 17 points at the beginning of the game.
* We encourage everyone to report any problems to a head official and game director as soon as they notice them to avoid further confusions.
<Additions to A Roster>
A team can add new players to its roster but must do so by 1 week prior to the game day. If a team plays anyone who is not on the roster that were submitted by 1 week prior to the game day, the team forfeit the game.
However, we encourage teams to still attend the tournament and play games so that other players and other teams still get playing opportunities and we can utilize our gym time and referees.
<Wheelchairs>
All players that are playing Division 1 and/or Division 2 must bring their own chair to play (including their loan chairs).
Wheelchairs at Douglas College or Trinity Western University are only for BCWBS programs such as City League, Intramural program, etc. (that don’t require much contact.)
If a player has a good reason that she/he needs to borrow a chair from BCWBS on the game day, she/he must contact and discuss with Makiko prior to the game day. (NOT on the game day.)
If a player has a trouble on the game day and needs to borrow a chair, she/he can talk to Makiko but we cannot promise that we can lend her/him a chair.
<Scorekeepers>
As in the regulations, your team is required to supply 3 scorekeepers for each assigned game. Your team will be charged $25 penalty per each missed spot.
Even if there is a game director available, they are there to oversee the scorekeepers and not to replace your player.
If your team cannot fill the spots because of emergency, please contact a game director or Makiko prior to the game but we encourage you to find a replacement as much as possible.
If you have any questions, please contact BCWBS office.
Thank you.
