The B.C. Wheelchair Basketball Society Board of Directors Named Following AGM - Lindsay Thom Named President
(Richmond, BC) -- Following a successful AGM, the B.C. Wheelchair Basketball Society (BCWBS) is pleased to announce changes to this year’s Board of Directors. While there are no new faces on the Board this year, a few board members have taken on new roles and responsibilities.
Lindsay Thom, who began her tenure on the BCWBS Board in 2009 with the communications portfolio, has been elected President. Thom works in communications at the BC Innovation Council (BCIC) and possesses extensive experience in both communications and public relations. Her previous work with the Rick Hansen Foundation and her role has a media attaché for the Canadian Wheelchair Basketball Team at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics has given her ample experience in the parasport movement.
“BC Wheelchair Basketball is lead by an outstanding team on the Board of Directors. I am confident in Lindsay’s ability to lead our organization in the achievement of our bold vision and expanded programming across the Province of BC,” said Carrie Linegar, Managing Director of BCWBS.
"It is with pleasure that after two years on the board, I accept the role of President of the Board,” said Thom. “I look forward to working with Carrie and the rest of the team to support the objectives of BCWBS and highlight the impact of wheelchair basketball to people of all abilities in BC communities."
Ross MacDonald moved into the role of the Secretary, following a successful year as President, and has been on the BCWBS Board since 2005. Ross is a member of the BC Men’s Provincial Team and a past National Team Member with Team Canada in wheelchair basketball who currently works as the Sport Development Coordinator at SportAbility and the City of Surrey.
