Wheelchair Basketball Member Survey
November 07, 2012 Wheelchair Basketball Canada is asking that you (BC athletes, coaches, officials, and regular volunteers) please take the time to click on the link below and fill in the member survey by Monday November 12th. The feedback you provide in this survey is very important to them and to our sport. WBC will use it to prepare for the strategic planning sessions taking place the weekend of the AGM (Dec. 1-2, 2012), during which they will be crafting the Strategic Plan that will guide them for the next four years. read more...
City Leaguers Share Wheelchair Basketball with Friends and Family
November 06, 2012 Last Sunday (November 4) at the Tim Frick Fall City League, we welcomed family and friends of the City Leaguers to share our sport. 13 family members and friends join the night at Douglas College in New Westminster and tried wheelchair basketball for the first time. Coach Alrey and the regular City Leaguers introduced some basic skills to the new faces and played some fun games. Then all the participants were devided into 4 teams and played 5 on 5 games. read more...
Division 2 Kamloops Tournament Results
November 04, 2012 Kamloops Bull-Dawgs hosted the first Division 2 tournament of the 2012-13 season on October 27/28 at the Tournament Capital Centre in Kamloops. Four teams attended the tournament: Victoria, Kamloops Bull-Dawgs, Okanagan Thunder, and the Gold Rush (BC Juniors). Last year's Champions Victoria has lost two key players Jessica and Jon Vliegenthart this season. However, with a couple of young upcoming athletes, they showed that they are still one of the best teams in the league by winning all four games on the weekend. read more...

Junior Players Had a Blast at the Halloween Game Night
October 23, 2012 BCWBS Junior Program had a Halloween Game Night at Trinity Western University in Langley this past Sunday (Oct 21) with a support of Jr. Program coaches Mitch Kosterman and Brad Hagkull as well as of the players' parents. Some of the junior players showed up in the gym not only wearing a costume but also pushing in a decorated basektaball wheelchairs. The game night featured some fun warm-ups and 3 on 3 games, and of course some treats brought by some of the parents!! read more...

Art Kelz of Kelowna Wins the Honda Mobility Dream Contest
October 15, 2012 From Honda Media Advisory: BC Wheelchair Basketball and its volunteer, Art Kelz, have won $20,000 to make a “mobility dream” come true in the Honda Mobility Dream contest. Kelz coordinates several wheelchair basketball teams in the Okanagan Valley and his dream of creating a team in Vernon and Penticton is being realized with the donation of ten adult-sized basketball wheelchairs from Honda Canada and two additional chairs from Creative Mobility Products Inc. and wheelchair manufacturer, Invacare Canada. read more...

Love on Wheels: A free poetry workshop discusses sexuality and disability

These are some of the topics to be covered at Love on Wheels, a free poetry workshop led by Mexican poet Ekiwah Adler-Belendez on October 20th from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Blusson Spinal Cord Centre. “We will articulate and discover ways that poetry can be a second body to move more freely and communicate with the world,” says Adler-Belendez. “The goal is to raise these questions, to offer support for each other, and to deepen our own curiosity.” read more...
